Cathedral Family,

I’m so grateful for the wonderful turnout at our parish picnic last weekend. It was a great moment of “being Church outside of church.” Thank you to the many generous hands who made it happen for us. In particular, I want to thank Kara Kwiatiowski for her leadership and guidance. Her efforts, along with those of everyone who collaborated with her, are very much appreciated.

The month of October is off and running! Traditionally, October is known to Catholics as the Month of the Rosary. This coming Saturday, please join us for a public recitation of the Rosary on the front plaza of the Cathedral. It is a wonderful witness to the power of prayer and our devotion to Our Lady.

There is power in the Rosary. The popes and saints of recent centuries have encouraged us to take up the Rosary as a sure devotion that brings us closer to Christ, helps us avoid sin, makes us more aware of God’s presence, and inspires us to be more charitable toward others. Let’s do it! I’m going to pray my Rosary during my car ride today. Where will you pray yours?

In your prayer intentions, please also include the kickoff of our Small Transformative Faith Groups! We begin this week, and there is still time to sign up! Don’t miss this opportunity. You will not be disappointed when you step outside your comfort zone. Take the first step and contact the parish office today. Let’s go!

Finally, this week, Father James and I will be away from the parish for the Annual Priest Convocation. We will join priests from across our diocese, and we are grateful that Bishop Saporito will be with us for part of our time together. It is an opportunity for us to pray together, hear about the needs of our diocese, and renew our fraternal bonds.

Please pray for us. We need your prayers to be the priests God calls us to be.

Have a blessed week and please keep up the Rosary---

In Jesus and Mary,

Father Christy
