“I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you.”
It must be said that our R.E. Program was created for success and then considered how we can function in light of Covid-19. We did not let the pandemic drive our planning. We planned first for successful formation of disciples. Then adapted as we went along to the ever-changing guidelines.
We see the present moment in our lifetime as a unique opportunity for the evangelization of the family, the domestic church. We worked to form a new vision for faith formation that builds upon where we have been and moves us to where we ought to be.
Evangelization happens first. Catechesis follows.
As we planned for the fall, we honestly considered whether what we had been doing for years was really working. We used this opportunity to redevelop our Religious Education Program and the Models it consists of by connecting our young people and their families with the parish in more creative, productive ways. Using the many newly developed tools for remote learning and the doors that technology opens we began to create programs that better responded to the call of the new evangelization using the new Directory for Catechesis as a road map to our renewal.
We know, according to St. John Paul II, that catechesis is a moment in the whole process of evangelization. We are committed to making that moment matter. Please join us in prayer as we work together to form a new vision for faith formation that builds upon where we have been and moves us to where we ought to be.
